Dear All--

I can't say I am a vigorous Twitter user partially because until this starting course I could not quite come to the understanding of how it might be used in my teaching context. I was introduced to Twitter back in the summer of 2008 during the Hornby Summer School all devoted to teaching using the technology. I remember how excited I felt then but my enthusiasm soon dwindled because back home I could not see a place for it in the classroom. What I completely overlooked is using Twitter to build my PLN. Thanks to some discussions in Multiliteracies I have come to a better understanding of Twitter's potential in this role and hope to start using it this way.

What I want to share with you here is a link to a resource I came across today which discusses uses of Twitter in the classroom: http://www.techlearning.com/article/20896 which lists quite a few uses of Twitter. I came across when thru a list of more resources devoted to Twitter uses in education: http://janeknight.typepad.com/socialmedia/2009/08/twitter-in-the-cl...

I hope you find something useful there for you:)

Enjoy!

Thanks ~ although reasonably active on Twitter sharing links, following events and researching, I haven't made much use of it teaching.

Thanks your comment. It'd be great to share our experiences in using Twitter. Thanks to the course I have started using it more actively for networking. But am not sure about using it in teaching in my teaching context - there is some reluctance on the part of my students to adding more technology in the language classroom. But this is actually a topic for another discussion. Maybe we should have it here.

Dear Natalya,

Thank you for sharing these wonderful links. I´ve been using Twitter mainly as my PLN. Last year I decided to integrate it in the classroom. Please take a look at the following link http://jenverschoor.wordpress.com/2010/10/29/teaching-geography-wit....

Last year I wrote another blog post on how to use Twitter in the classroomhttp://jenverschoor.wordpress.com/2010/02/08/how-to-use-twitter-in-....(just realized that the PPT has a broken link)

I hope you find these links interesting and inspiring.

Warm regards

Jennifer

I hope you  find different ideas to integrate Twitter in your classroom.
